Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref 1010786 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for THE CASTLE CINEMA at OLIVER PLUNKETT STREET, OLDCASTLE in CO. MEATH with LYNPHARM LIMITED as licensee.[1]

NIAH records Castle Cinema, Oliver Plunkett Street, Oldcastle, as a regional-rated building of architectural, social and technical special interest, originally used as a cinema and built in 1944.[2] NIAH states that the cinema closed in 1981 and was disused when recorded in 2002.[2] Irish Independent coverage in 2004 said the Oldcastle property had housed Castle Cinema and Clarke's Cash & Carry, with the former cinema built in 1938 and formerly having a 600-seat capacity.[3] Meath Chronicle reported in 2024 that public viewing for a bar-memorabilia auction, including a reconstructed Kennedy's of Mount Merrion pub interior, was available in Castle Cinema in Oldcastle.[4]
