Western People reported in 2026 that the TF Royal Theatre, Castlebar was nominated for the IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year Award 2026 after being named Connacht Live Music Venue of the Year 2025.[2] The same report described the venue's development from the early 1950s, through the opening of the Royal Ballroom in 1961, the establishment of a concert theatre format in 1999, and the development of a 1,500-seat theatre in 2005.[2] Western People also reported that the 2026 IMRO winners were due to be announced at the Guinness Storehouse on 2026-04-21.[2]
