Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref CBP631 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for IRISH HOUSE at DUKE STREET, ELLISON STREET, CASTLEBAR in CO. MAYO with ALAN HEVERIN as licensee.[1]
The Connaught Telegraph reported that the Irish House name came from a Heverin family business on Ellison Street founded by James Heverin, first known as a general drapers and boot warehouse before the pub name was revived under the same roof by Paul Heverin.[2]
The same report says Alan Heverin, grandson of Michael Heverin, now runs the business.[2]
