Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref TRP0696 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for THE SHEBEEN PUBLIC HOUSE at WILLIAM STREET, LISTOWEL in CO. KERRY with WILLIAM CANTY as licensee.[1]

In a 2006 article about a donated piano, the Kerryman reported that the instrument had previously been “pride of place” in Horgan-Leahy’s Bar in Listowel, “where the Shebeen is today”.[2]
