Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref GAP100 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for GARAVANS at 18 WILLIAM STREET, GALWAY in CO. GALWAY with GARAVANS LIMITED as licensee.[1]

Garavan's own history page says Charles Garavan Snr established the business in 1937 as a spirit grocery, combining public house and grocery trade, and describes the Garavans as one of the few Galway families still trading on the city's main thoroughfare.[2]

TheJournal.ie profiled Garavan's in 2018 as a Galway fixture since 1937, with a building dating back to the seventeenth century and three generations of the Garavan family involved in the business.[3]

The Irish Times listed Garavan's on William Street among Galway whiskey-trail stops, noting the 1937-era snug and bar counter and the pub's collection of old whiskey bottles.[4]
