In a 2015 Irish Times Barfly column, Gary Quinn wrote that Michael JF Wright owned The Bloody Stream and had taken a derelict building in 1995 and turned it into the bar.[2]

An Irish Times walk article described The Bloody Stream as the old railway station, now a pub, and linked the name to a 12th-century Norman defeat of the Vikings of Howth.[3]
